In 2000, I made a series of short features for the World Today programme at BBC World Service radio about London, and particularly London writing. I spoke to Iain Sinclair, Courttia Newland, Lynne Reid Banks and Ken Worpole either about how an aspect of the city is reflected in fiction or about how their own writing captures a particular locality.
I also put together a package along the same lines, and a largely vox pop-driven feature on how Londoners - in the contrasting locales of Walthamstow dog track (sadly no more) and night-time Soho - feel about their city and the way it has changed over the years.
